How To Ensure You Blog Like A Pro Every Time

Blogging can be a tricky thing. At school we were taught to write in the third person, write professionally and never refer to ourselves as ‘I’.  Nobody taught us how to blog and because of how we were taught, many of us apply these rules to blogging too.

Blogging is very different to typical article writing, different to essay writing, in fact it’s probably different to every other type of writing you have done previously. Yes it should be grammatically correct, well written and concise, but the level of seriousness needs to be taken down a notch or two.

So many of us hang up our party hats and put on our most serious hats when it comes to writing, but for blogging, I say keep the party hat on.

Make It Personal

Blogging is all about engaging the reader. Use words such as ‘you and ‘I,’ address the reader as if you were speaking to them directly. Add in your own personality. There is nothing worse than reading a blog that sounds like it has come out of a machine. Your readers want to know a little about the person behind the writing, so don’t be shy to put your stamp on things.

Make It Worth Reading

If your blogging, I’m guessing you want people to read your blog, hopefully. So with that in mind, you have to make it worth your readers while to start reading your blog in the first place, and finish it. The best blogs offer up advice, guides and ‘how tos’ go down very well.

Your readers want something back for their time, so reading your blog worth their while! Opinion blogs don’t always go down brilliantly, especially if your opinion is a minority. When you first start out try writing guides only until you start to find your feet in the blogging world.

Make Your Blog Work For You

Blogging can benefit you as an individual or a business; you just have to know how. As an individual you need to ensure you share your blogs on social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest.

If you have a personal site other than your blog which you want to drive traffic to link your blog to your site using keywords in which you would want searchers to find your site for. The more you share your blog the better. If you are serious about blogging and hope to make a career out of it the more you share the more people will see it and the higher the changes are of somebody approaching you to blog for their site.

When blogging for your business look into blogging on other sites as well as your own. Blogging on other powerful sites means you can use a link back to your business site using keywords again. This works to help your site rank on search engines.

The practice of getting sites to rank on search engines is known as search engine optimisation, this can help almost any business no end. For further advice on SEO contact a UK SEO company.
