What The New Apple Mac Is All About

Apple has long been one of the most sought after and desired computer firms in the world, releasing a large offering of impressive products, ranging from the iPad tablet to the extremely popular MacBook Pro lineup of laptops.

However, one staple Apple has gone for years without updating is the Mac Pro. This desktop computer is designed for professionals who need the latest computer technology in order to run their software, such as videographers, photographers and others who need a large amount of computing power.

This all changed though with the recent release of the new Mac Pro. The Mac Pro is like nothing the computer firm has ever put out, as its new design is something most computer users probably haven't seen either. While the price tag does bring in a premium, it is hands down one of the most powerful desktop computers available once it hits the market and it is likely to be the best looking.

The Apple Mac Pro looks like something you'd see off of a space ship, as it completely abandons the traditional square or rectangular design of a traditional computer. Instead, it is a full cylinder, almost exactly designed after a jet engine.

The curved, smaller shape doesn't give much room in terms of internal upgrade features, but it does allow for extensive upgrades for users who have adopted the Thunderbolt connection design, which provides faster speeds than USB 3.0 and FireWire.

Thunderbolt 2

The new Apple Mac Pro is designed with dual GPUs and the next generation Thunderbolt 2, which is not yet available on other computer systems. It also has the ability to support 4K resolution, which is four times the video resolution of HD.

This way, video editors doesn't have to sacrifice any sort of picture quality when they edit their material. It also has up to 12 cores of processing power and up to 40 gigabytes a second in bandwidth, making it one of the fastest personal computers in the world. This makes it twice as face as the current Mac.

This kind of speed is generally not available on most desktop computers, and while the casual user is able to upgrade to this kind of equipment, it is specifically designed for those who truly need processing power and speed. The memory bandwidth also improves, giving the system a 1866MHz and two times the memory bandwidth of the current Mac Pro. This way, the computer is likely to not shut down at all or run into crashes due to performance issues.

It has up to seven teraflops of computing power, which is apposed to the 2.7 currently found on the most up to date Mac Pro. The 4K video ability is also in real time rendering, so video editors do not have to wait for the computer to render out, they simply are able to perform the edits and alterations in real time, which should boost production and performance and allow them to complete more tasks ahead of time.

Flash Storage

The Apple Mac Pro is also now coming with a flash storage drive, instead of the solid-state drive or moving hard drive (a traditional hard drive that rotates in order to locate information). This makes it 2.5 times faster than the newer solid state drives and over 10 times faster than the traditional hard drives.

In fact, the PCIe Flash Storage drive the Mac Pro now comes with can retrieve 1250 Megabytes a second (or 1.2 gigabytes), while the older, traditional hard drive is only able to bring up 110 Megabytes per second. This helps aid the overall performance.
