Verify Yourself As a Blog Publisher

You must have seen name and image in Google search results of blog owners. Matt Cutts is a Google associate and works on search engine index updates and SEO issues. You can see his name and image in Google search by clicking here. 

Once you verify your blog you may also be able to see your name and image in search results. The process is called as Google Authorship. Applying authorship is very simple but if you read about Google Authorship on other places it is little bit confusing even the official Google blog has explained it in a lengthy and complex way.

Here it is explained in very simple way. So let's begin the process.

Verify Yourself As a Blog Publisher

To become a verified publisher you have to create a Google Plus fan Page and cross link it with your blog/website. Visit Google Plus and create your page. Now get a Google+ badge for your page by clicking here. Visit the link and enter your page id in the URL and select the size of your badge and copy the code.

Now come to your blog and paste this badge where you want the badge to render. Now go to your Google+ page and click the Profile button.

Now click Edit Profile and click the Website option. Enter your blog URL and save it.

Now you have to check it whether it is working or not.

Rich Snippet Testing Tool

Rich snippet is a tool which is used to verify the process of Google Authorship whether it is applied successfully or not. Go to Rich Snippet Tool and enter your blog URL and click Preview. If everything is OK you will see the result as verified.

But please note that there is no guarantee that even after successful verification your name and image will be displayed in the search results. It is clearly mentioned in the rich snippet testing tool.
