There are countless mobile phones on the market today, and more specifically, countless smartphones.  Of these smartphones there are two dominant categories: Those that run Android and Apple's iPhone.  The Galaxy Nexus is Samsung's and Google's attempt to make a significant impact on the burgeoning mobile phone market.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus boasts an impressive 1280×720 screen, backlit by a Super AMOLED display.  Although the plastic backing may appear less extravagant then the metal one of the  Apple iPhone, the Galaxy Nexus is none the less pleasant to look upon and to hold in one's hand.  Weighing in at 135g, the phone sits comfortably in one's hand.

Upon initial viewing of the phone one may notice that there is very few exterior buttons.  Sitting on the right side of the phone's slim profile is tiny on/off button and on the other side sits a toggle to adjust volume.

For the rest of the phone's on screen functions, one must rely on soft keys integrated into the screen, although the transition to these soft keys is fairly painless.  All in all the Galaxy Nexus is a pretty phone not only to see but also to hold and to use.

Past the exterior of the phone lies the prodigy of the phone: it's innovative software.  The Galaxy Nexus is the third phone in Google's Nexus series, meaning that Google has completely designed all new software for the release of the phone.

Upon initial release of the phone it ran Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, but the updated 4.1 Jelly Bean has since replaced it as the standard operating system.  Needless to say this is where the phone differentiates itself as an innovation and as a tool for the common man and woman.

Contrastingly, if one simply wishes to use the phone for pleasure then the phone can be loaded up with plenty of video and music. The phone also excels from its development by the ever expanding Google.  Coming pre installed in the form of apps are the wealth of services which Google has to offer, all in wrapped up in a stunning interface.

One can use the innovative map application to obtain directions to the newest bar, and if you get lost along the way, Google's turn by turn GPS will surely help you along the way.  Have a question that is searing your mind? Simply ask Google now vocally, and the application will tell you the answer in a soothing female voice.

Bored of doing actual work in your cubicle? Google's YouTube application provides a stunning portal to the internet's wealth of self made videos.  If you have a need, then Google and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus are right by your side to guide you to a solution.

If one is in the market for a phone, tone should consider the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.  Not only does the Galaxy Nexus boast a beautiful exterior, lightning quick hardware, a world class operating system and an array of fantastic applications, it also offers a cheaper alternative to that of the Apple iPhone or Samsung's Galaxy S3.

Laura recently bought her husband a Galaxy Nexus for Christmas.  Before doing so she made sure to obtain a PAC code from his network provider so that he could easily transfer his phone book and keep the same phone number.  Her husband loved his Christmas present!
