How to Post iPhone Notifications to Twitter

Now that the Twitter social networking service has been fully integrated into the iOS operating system, you can post status updates to your Twitter page right from the iPhone Notification Bar.

You no longer need to use an official or third-party Twitter application, or even any dedicated application at all.

You just need to adjust your iPhone’s settings so that the Twitter functionality is present at the top of your device’s screen in the Notification Bar where it will do the most good. After that, posting to Twitter from your iPhone is as simple as tapping a few buttons anytime you’d like.

Step 1

Go into the “Settings” application on your iPhone and turn on the “Twitter” Notification Bar functionality. To accomplish this, open the “Settings” app and select the “Notifications” menu option. Locate the entry for the “Share Widget” and tap on it one time. Tap the option labeled “Notification Center” to add that functionality to the aforementioned location on your iPhone.

Step 2

Return to the main screen of the “Settings” application and scroll through the window until you find the option labeled “Twitter.” The “Twitter” option is located towards the center of the list of options onscreen, right above the “Facebook” option in a dedicated social networking section.

Enter your Twitter name and password into the screen that appears to log into your Twitter account from your iPhone. You have to log into your Twitter account through the iPhone “Settings” application to post Twitter status updates from the Notification Bar on your device.

Step 3

Exit the “Settings” application on your device and return to the “Home” screen. Use your finger to pull the Notification Bar down from its place at the top of your iPhone’s screen. A new bar labeled “Tap to Tweet” will now be present in the Notification Bar. Tap the bar one time to continue.

Step 4

Use the iPhone virtual keyboard to enter your intended Twitter message into the box labeled “Tweet” on screen. Keep an eye on how many characters you’re using with the “Character” indicator in the lower right corner of the screen. If you want to add location data to your tweet, tap the button labeled “Add Location.

Step 5

Tap the blue button labeled “Send.” The tweet you have composed will be posted to your main Twitter account page. You can now return to the Notification Bar to use other functions of your device or swipe upward across the screen to return to your iPhone “Home” screen at any time.
