Mobile phones have certainly come a long way since they were first introduced, and, like all other forms of technology, we can only expect that they will continue to change by leaps and bounds as the years go on.

Your imagination will probably run wild if you try to come up with what mobile phones will look like and what they will be capable of doing in a couple of decades, but there are certain aspects of the mobile phone industry that we can already see changing, so you can expect to see some of these improvements over the next few years or even sooner than that.

Below are some of the changes that will most likely be coming to the mobile phone industry, and which we will all need to adapt to.

Faster Web Surfing

As mobile devices, from phones to tablets, become faster at accessing information on the web, will there even be a need in the future for computers at all? 3G is being quickly taken over by 4G, which provides even faster browsing speeds on your smartphone than ever before, and 4G will eventually be replaced by the next advancement that makes browsing even faster still.

Once you are able to access all the content you need, at lightning-fast speeds, on your mobile devices, you will probably notice that you watch your videos, access your news, and do most, if not all, of your surfing on your handheld devices instead of your desktop computer.

Where You Get Your Advertising

If you thought your life was bombarded by advertisements at every turn, from your television and radio to billboards and print ads and now web-based ads on your computer and tablet devices, you will be even more overwhelmed once advertisers begin using your mobile phone to target their products and services to you.

Using your location, interests, and activities, which can all be gathered from your actions on your mobile phone, advertisers can cater their ads to very specific demographics and client bases. You will be receiving ads that they feel will appeal to you, based upon your unique needs and buying activities.

Everything Will Go Wireless

By using your mobile phone, you already have seen how technology has taken advantage of wireless capabilities. For example, you can search the internet on your mobile phone by accessing a local wireless network that provides internet service. Society is also doing away with thumb drives in favour of cloud servers, or virtual spaces on which information is contained so that it can be accessed anywhere, from any device.

And the future will continue to move in the direction of wireless technology. You will probably eventually do away with all those cables and wires and charge your mobile phone wirelessly as well as transfer all those photos and videos off your phone and onto your computer wirelessly as well.

Roll Up Your Phones

In the future, we may very well see mobile phones that you can roll up, thanks to malleable touchscreens that will be flexible enough to be bent and manipulated.
