What is a Wireless Charger for Smartphones.

The latest and greatest phenomenon in mobile phone technology, wireless chargers are changing the way that smartphone users think about fueling up their phone’s needy batteries.

They have a whole slew of benefits including increased portability and efficiency in addition to doing away with the need for an electrical outlet or plug-in. They are also highly adaptable and work on a number of different devices with ease.

It’s obvious that wireless chargers are pretty snazzy but what exactly are they? In a basic sense, wireless chargers for smartphones are chargers that don’t require an outside power source. Unlike traditional chargers, they don’t have any cords, wires, or cables and don’t need to be plugged into an electrical wall outlet.

Wireless chargers for smartphones run of off an electromagnetic field. The electromagnetic field is what helps transfer energy from a wireless charger to your mobile phone. A series of coils are used to create an inductive coupling which creates the energy that is then used to power your phone.

It is definitely all a bit technical, but when you see a wireless charger in action, figuring out how it works will be the furthest thing from your mind. Simply put, charging without an outlet is amazing!
The wireless chargers of today already come in many different shapes and sizes. The two most popular forms are wireless charging pads and wireless charging cases.

A wireless charging pad is simply a small pad that is just a little bit larger than your smartphone. The electromagnetic coupling device is held inside. To use it, you simply place your phone on top of it and the charge starts. On the other end of things, a wireless charging case is basically a case that you slip over your phone when it needs to be charged.

In fact, they are very similar to standard smartphone protection cases – except that they charge your phone as well! The current wireless charging case technology is a little bit bulky, but manufacturers are looking for ways to slim them down and design models that don’t need to ever be taken off of your phone.

One of the only problems that people have had with wireless chargers is that they don’t have a very large range. Many people expect them to charge phones at a great distance. For instance, they are often thought of as having the ability to charge a phone from over ten feet away.

If this were true, a wireless charger would be able to charge a phone that was set anywhere in the same room as it. Your charger could be on a table and your phone could be on your bed and a charge would still happen. While this is not true (a wireless charger currently needs to be very close to a mobile phone to work), it is what many manufacturers are aiming for in the future.

The future of wireless charging technology is bright. Improvements to this already incredible technology are constantly being made. It is very likely that in the next five years you won’t see anything but wireless chargers fueling up the world’s smartphones.
