Asus Unveils Massive Devices at the MWC 2013

Asus has learnt a lot from the making of Nexus 7. They have applied the same to FonePad and PadFone infinity. We can see many similarities in the Nexus and Fonepad.

The 7-inch FonePad has a metallic build but still weighs just 340 grams, much to our surprise. It is also thinner than we expected at 10.4mm. The 7-inch display delivers a resolution of 1280x800 pixels with bright colors and sharp text. It also boasts 3G+HSPA connectivity. It runs on an Intel atom Z420 1.2GHz processor. It has a powerful PowerVR SGX540 graphics card.

You can store up to 16GB of data in the built-in memory and it can be extended up to 32GB using a microSD card. It is a shame that it doesn’t have a rear camera. However, it has a 1.2MP front facing camera. Though the calling feature is not new in tablets, it is a thoughtful move to incorporate this feature in the FonePad.

It might seem a bit weird when seen holding a big device to your ears. It has an earpiece like the ones seen in smartphones. As expected, the device comes with a lot of preloaded apps. To those who want to buy this tablet for personal use, this might not sound good because most of the apps are productivity apps.

It comes with SuperNote Lite which helps you save handwritten notes and drawing. It will be greatly useful for your meetings with your clients when you will not have time to take down detailed notes. It will be available for sale sometime in April for a price of $249. The FonePad has two accessories and these are optional.

The VersaSleeve wraparound has a folding design to protect the device and it also props the screen in different angles for typing and watching videos. You can also buy the Turn Case, a light weight case that has a soft interior to keep the screen clean.

PadFone Infinity is a 5-inch smartphone. It delivers a resolution of 441ppi. You can watch 1080p HD videos on this phone. It is powered by a 1.7GHz quad-core processor and a massive 2,400mAh battery. The battery is expected to last up to 19 hours on 3G calls, 6.5 hours on surfing, or 9 hours of video sessions.

Though they have not provided a camera with their tablet, the company has made it available on the smartphone. The 13MP rear camera lets you shoot videos in HD quality.
PadFone Infinity also supports LTE and NFC. It has 64GB of built-in storage. You can also use the 50GB of cloud storage the company has made available for all users for free. It comes with a tablet docking station.

The docking station measures 10.1 inches and has a resolution of 1920x1200 pixels. It is powered by a 5,000mAh battery. It has 18mm drivers in the loud speakers and the music is crystal clear. It is expected to hit the shelves after mid-April and you will have to shell out $1,325 for it.

The two devices are sure to live up to the expectations. They feel sturdy and also come with the specs you will want to use. Except for the missing camera in FonePad, everything else on these devices is good.
