Since the digital switch over I have had such a hard time getting a decent reception on my television. I am not technically minded and like the majority of people who struggle with technology, all I want is to be able to watch my weekly shows.
When I heard about the digital switchover I was worried that my old television set wouldn’t work and so I went out and invested several hundred pounds in a LCD TV which really was too big for my needs.
The guy was trying to sell me a 3D set but there was no way I needed one of those as 3D makes me feel ill and it doesn’t work for my partner. After purchasing the new TV, I discovered that the aerial on the roof wasn’t set up for the digital signal and so that needed to be changed too.
While looking online, I found portable aerials that were supposedly designed to accept a digital signal. They were cheap so I purchased one online but immediately discovered that this was a mistake. Despite the site claiming that the aerial would solve our problem, we spent about three months with horrific reception.
Each time we used the television we would have to mess about with the aerial, never managing to get a decent picture. We even moved the television, the portable aerial and even the other bits of furniture in the room to try and work out the problem but we just could not manage to find that one magic spot where the screen looked crystal clear.
With money tight these days and savings needing to be made anywhere everywhere that they can be, we simply could not justify paying out for an expensive subscription, especially if we were unlikely to make the most it.
We were able to get a new aerial installed on the roof with the cables neatly hidden inside. The experts who came to fit the aerial were also able to sort out the other televisions in the house.
Although I may not be into technology I do actually feel that my research and involvement in sorting the television out to get me digital and get my technical life back on track have successfully widened my knowledge on how to get a great deal.
What’s more, I now understand technology a little better and realise the importance of a professional expert’s advice and guidance. Their support is certainly worth seeking. Now I have my old TV shows back and can relax at the end of the day knowing I don’t have to be annoyed by interference.

DIY Digital: No Thank You
My husband told me he was willing to save a bit of cash and get up there himself to change over the aerial. I soon put a stop to that as I could picture him clambering about up there and falling off, probably injuring himself or crashing in through the roof! I told him here was no way he was heading up that ladder so we thought about what alternative options we had available to us.While looking online, I found portable aerials that were supposedly designed to accept a digital signal. A great Picture and a New Found Love for Entertainment
For several months now we have been enjoying a great picture on the television and had no issues with reception whatsoever. I have even started watching more movies at night simply because they do look so great and we certainly use it and enjoy it because of the instillation that we had done.Although I may not be into technology I do actually feel that my research and involvement in sorting the television out to get me digital and get my technical life back on track have successfully widened my knowledge on how to get a great deal.
