If you are a sports fan then you probably have your favorite team that you follow and support no matter how good or bad they may be. You have tee shirts and jersey and wear them proudly when out and about in your community.

But did you know that you can do more than just wear swag and outfit your home in your team’s colors? You can support your team on Facebook so all your friends know where your heart lies when it comes to sports.

The following are 3 ways to support your team on Facebook:

  1. Profile and Timeline Photos – One of the easiest ways to promote your favorite sports team is by using your team’s logo as your profile and time line photos.  Facebook makes it easy to change out these photos so you can use a new version of the logo every week of the year if you are so inclined.  All of your friends can see who you support and when they like a post, their friends can also see where your loyalties lay.
  2. Add Other Fans as Friends – Most sports fans have other friends who are also fans of the same sports team.  You can go onto these friends’ pages and look through their friends to see if any share the same passion for the same team.  Adding these new friends can offer you more insight into your team that you may miss otherwise.

  3. Start a Fan Page – What better way is there to support your team than starting a Facebook fan page?  Get creative with the title of the page as this is a very popular way to support your team and most of the easy titles are probably already taken.  You can also start a fan page to support your favorite player on the team.  This not only promotes the player but it promotes the team as well.  Invite all likeminded friends to join your fan page and ask them to suggest people to join in on the discussion.
  4. Link to Your Blog – Many diehard fans have their own blogs where they post their comments on the team or thoughts about a certain game.  If you have your own blog, you can post your blog onto your fan page or your own page.  It is even possible to post your blogs on other fan pages that support your team.  As long as you’re a member of the fan page, you can do this easily and quickly.  Just make sure you include a link to your blog so readers can click through directly to your posts.
The above are some great ways to support and promoter your team on Facebook and it makes being a fan much more fulfilling.  Having the ability to chat with other likeminded fans on your fan page can make game days fun when you can’t be at the game in person.

You can also promote your own blog and gain more click-throughs by using Facebook fan pages as tool to achieve more visibility for it.
