If you're trying to always stay connected to your business life no matter where you are and can't afford to miss so much as a single important e-mail, few devices offer both the portability and the reliability of the Blackberry Bold.

The Blackberry Bold can interface with your office's existing enterprise architecture, giving you all of the power and flexibility you would have from your office on a mobile platform.

The device also contains a wide variety of different applications that put it on part with other popular smart phones for both professional and private use. The Internet connectivity features on the Blackberry Bold are easy to manage, so long as you follow a few basic steps.

All new Wi-Fi profiles appear at the bottom of the profile list generated in the system properties of the Blackberry Bold when you turn it on. Even if you aren't planning on connecting to any one particular network, the device will still scan it for information as soon as it enters the broadcast range.

To connect your Blackberry Bold to a Wi-Fi network at work, in your home or in public, begin by holding the Power button on your device until the Home screen loads. Depending on the security settings you enabled when you originally configured the device, you may need to sign into your administrator account using a username and password.

When the Home screen on your device appears, click the icon labeled Manage Connections one time. You can also find the same icon by entering the built in Settings utility. Scroll through the list of options on screen until you locate the one Set Up Wi-Fi Network. If you know you are within the broadcasting range of a Wi-Fi network but do not see its name in the list on screen, tap the button labeled Scan for Networks.

If you know that the Wi-Fi network in question does not broadcast its SSID in a public way, you can add it manually. Tap the option labeled Manually Add Network. A new window will appear on screen. Type the network name of the Wi-Fi access point you are trying to use and click the button labeled Add. Wi-Fi network names and labels are case sensitive, so pay close attention to any capital letters that may be in the name.

While trying to connect your Blackberry Bold to a Wi-Fi network, stay as close to the wireless router in your home or office as you can. Though you can freely move about the area once the connection has been established and you won't have to worry about dropping the connection, for the best results during the initial setup process it is always a good idea to stay as close to the Wi-Fi router as possible.

Doing so will also allow your device to have the highest quality signal strength, which in turn provides faster Internet speeds.

Follow the directions on screen to complete the configuration of your Blackberry Bold Wi-Fi connection. You will be asked to provide any username and password that you need to log into, which is a process that will vary depending on the level of encryption on the network. If you don't know your office's Wi-Fi password, speak to the system administrator for your building. When the option becomes available, click the word  Next.

A new screen will appear on your Blackberry Bold labeled Wi-Fi Setup Complete, indicating that your device will now use the specified network to access the Internet. Tap the option labeled Prioritize Wi-Fi Profiles.

Though your device will already connect to the network automatically whenever it enters the broadcast range, giving the network a higher priority will make sure your Blackberry Bold favors the network you added over any unsecured networks it may find in the same area. When the option becomes available, click the button labeled Finish to return to the Home screen on your device.

Depending on the configuration of your network, your business system administrator may have disabled your device's ability to connect to Wi-Fi networks if your email account uses Blackberry Enterprise Server technology. In that scenario, you would need to give your mobile phone to the administrator to manually add it to any Wi-Fi networks you want to use.
