Nintendo of Canada has announced that starting August 1, 2025, prices for the original Nintendo Switch, Switch OLED, and Switch Lite consoles, along with physical and digital games, accessories, amiibo, and Nintendo Switch Online memberships, will change due to "market conditions." The exact details of the price adjustments will be revealed on the Nintendo Canada online store on August 1.

While Nintendo has not confirmed whether prices will increase or decrease, the mention of "market conditions" suggests a likely price hike, possibly driven by factors like inflation, exchange rates, or trade tariffs.

Current prices for the consoles are CAD $399 for the standard Switch, CAD $449 for the Switch OLED, and CAD $259 for the Switch Lite. Industry trends, such as recent price increases for Xbox and PlayStation consoles, support speculation of a 5-10% rise, though this remains unconfirmed.

The price changes will not affect the Nintendo Switch 2 or its related games and accessories, which launched in June 2025 at CAD $629. This suggests Nintendo is focusing adjustments on its older hardware and ecosystem, possibly to encourage adoption of the newer Switch 2.

Canadian gamers are advised to consider purchasing Switch products before August 1, as the changes could make consoles, games, and accessories more expensive. Full pricing details will be available on Nintendo’s official Canadian website when the adjustments take effect.
