It is a tablet device that allows you to read books in a digital form. If you are looking for a great reading device then the Kindle is a great tool.

 Many people do not like reading digital text for two reasons. The first is because digital text has to be lit up, which hurts people’s eyes. The second reason is because you have to sit up and forwards to read digital text. 

Amazon has solved the problem of you having to sit up and forwards by creating a tablet device. You can hold the Kindle device is the same way that you can hold a book, so that you can read it sat back in at chair, or you can even take it to bed with you and lay it on your pillow as you lie down.

You do not need to carry your books around with you if you want to take it on the bus, train or to the café or park. You may also purchase other texts no matter where you are. You do not have to wait for your book to come through the post; you can simply download a new one whilst you wait.

The wrap around lamp

This is a lamp that you can attach to anything you like. The lamp is mounted on a bendable stem (bendy but stiff metal) which you can wrap around things so that you may suspend the lamp wherever you like.

You can also bend the stem so that you can hang the lamp from anywhere–from a curtain tie hook to off the back of your bedroom door. You can purchase the battery-powered ones for if you tend to read outside your home, and you can buy the ones with a mains plug attached if you tend to read at home. There are lots of variations of this lamp, but if you get the choice, you should buy the solar powered ones.

They have a little solar panel attached that you can place on your windowsill to charge up the light during the day. If you get the chance, you should buy two of the solar powered ones, since they are ecologically friendly, they will save you money on batteries, and you can really drench your reading area in light if you buy two.

An elastic band

Bookmarks always fall out, so wrap a large elastic band around one half of the book, making sure to pass it on the page you are on. Not only will it not fall out, you can easily get to your page by tugging on the elastic band so that the book opens. It is probably the most basic of gadgets, but beats a bookmark any day.

Text to spoken word software

There are cheap word-to-voice programs that you can buy for your laptop and desktop devices. Handheld devices also have cheap apps and add-ons that you can purchase to read aloud chunks of text that you select. These apps and programs are great for when you are too tired to read, but still want to hear how a story ends.

They are also good for people who are revising digital text, because they can give their eyes a rest. They are also good for people with dyslexia, people with astigmatism who cannot read for long periods, and people with poor vision in general. 


All of these people can benefit from text-to-word software. Try to hunt down a good one that adds a little bit of expression into each section, since it becomes monotonous when every sentence is spoken with the same lifeless computerized tone.
