Leaker Ice Universe has shared new details on the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s privacy screen technology, showing how it can selectively black out specific parts of the display from side angles while keeping the rest visible. The feature promises precise protection for sensitive info, like notifications in crowded places.
In a detailed X post with demo images, Ice Universe explained: “The privacy screen on the Samsung S26 Ultra goes far beyond global privacy mode. It also supports partial, localised privacy control.”
Here’s how it works:
- Users can apply privacy protection to only a specific part of the screen, like a message notification pop-up.
- From the user’s straight viewing angle, the full content shows clearly.
- From a side angle, just the protected area turns fully black, making the message impossible to read, while the rest of the screen stays normal and usable.
This avoids darkening the entire display, offering “higher precision” for content you want to hide. Ice Universe called it a “genuinely practical privacy feature” for elevators, public transport, queues, and other busy spots.

The images show a Galaxy S26 Ultra (in lavender and black) with a notification visible from the front but completely blacked out from the side. The rest of the screen, including apps and wallpaper, remains clear.
Samsung has not confirmed the feature yet, but it fits rumours of the S26 Ultra’s advanced display tech. The phone is expected to launch in late January or early February 2026, with a focus on camera and privacy upgrades.
Ice Universe’s post has gone viral, with fans praising the real-world usefulness. One reply noted: “This solves the biggest issue with privacy screens – they used to make everything dark!”
If real, this could set the S26 Ultra apart in a crowded flagship market. Stay tuned for Samsung’s Unpacked event soon!
