AMD’s next-generation Zen 5 X3D processors have reportedly been shown in a private demonstration running DDR5-9800 memory, with leaked branding pointing to Ryzen 9950X3D2 and 9850X3D models ahead of an expected reveal at CES 2026.
According to multiple leak sources, the upcoming AMD Zen 5 X3D lineup represents an evolution of the current Zen 5 platform, pairing 3D V-Cache technology with dramatically faster memory support. The reported DDR5-9800 speed is a significant jump from today’s mainstream DDR5-6000 to DDR5-7000 configurations used by current flagship CPUs.
The leaked model names suggest a clear tiering strategy. The Ryzen 9950X3D2 (Buy from Amazon) is believed to sit at the top of the stack, likely featuring a 16-core configuration, while the 9850X3D would target a slightly lower performance tier. X3D processors integrate stacked L3 cache, a design that has historically delivered major gains in gaming workloads.
The rumoured specs arrive as AMD continues to compete with Intel’s Arrow Lake lineup at the high end of the desktop CPU market. DDR5-9800 support matters because such speeds are typically limited to premium motherboards and enthusiast-grade memory kits, where increased bandwidth can improve gaming frame rates and reduce latency in certain productivity tasks.
