The iPhone 5

iPhone 5
There are just three short weeks to go now until Apple’s media event scheduled for September 12th, and we have a pretty good idea of what’s coming on that date; the new iPhone 5, and the new mini iPad!

It hasn’t been officially confirmed by Apple, so we’re not 100% certain yet, but what with all the rumors, leaked parts and specifications we’ve seen floating around the internet over the past months during the build-up to the iPhone 5 release, it would be a safe bet to assume that we will most definitely be seeing at least the new iPhone 5 this September.

We have a fairly good idea of what changes we’re going to see in the new iPhone 5, compared to the iPhone 4S. Normally Apple are very good at keeping things quiet, but this year it seems they haven’t been able to keep the project as quiet as they would like, and we have ended up seeing what the new iPhone is going to look like, as well as getting a nice idea of some of the features and hardware improvements that the device has. In this post we’re going to take a look at a few of the things we ‘know’ so far about the iPhone 5.

Let’s start with the most obvious change – the design. You can see a couple of pictures of the iPhone 5 on this page and what it’s going to look like – at least if the leaked parts we have seen are legit, if they aren’t, then we have no idea what the iPhone 5 is going to look like! However, the sources which brought us the information about the iPhone 5 design are reliable sources, so we are pretty sure that this is what the new iPhone 5 is going to look like.

iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S

The picture above shows the iPhone 5 next to the iPhone 4S, so you can get an idea of how they compare against each other.

As you can see from the picture, the iPhone 5 is taller (tall enough to fit an extra row of Apps icons on the home-screen) and slimmer than its predecessor, the iPhone 4S. It’s definitely the best looking iPhone we have seen yet – in my opinion anyway. I can’t wait to get my hands on it and see what it is like in person.

I’m also really looking forward to seeing iOS 6, for those of you who haven’t heard about the iOS update, you should do a quick search now – it looks great, especially the new Maps app with (free) turn-by-turn GPS!
