Samsung ATIV S - A Dream Windows Phone?

The Samsung ATIV S is a handset which uses Windows Phone 8 as its operating system.  This is a fairly large phone which has some great features including a top processor, large display and a good camera.

Samsung ATIV S - Overview

The design of the handset is very similar to that of the Galaxy S III. The rear cover has been given a brushed aluminium-style finish and there are chrome edges. However, it is made from plastic and some reviewers have declared it to be a little flimsy.

There are physical buttons down each side of the handset for ease of use and it can easily be operated one-handed. The apps on the phone are ideal for those who want to use their smartphone to help to organise their lives. There are messaging apps, Microsoft Office apps and plenty of entertainment options.

Screen

The screen offers an excellent display and images are clear and bright. You can also be sure that the touchscreen is very responsive so moving between apps and other functions is a very smooth process.

Power and Memory

The processor also helps this along a bit with a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor fitted to the phone. The software on the phone is demanding when it comes to processing power so the extra is needed.   Users will also be very impressed with the storage on the phone. You can choose from a 16GB or a 32GB version and there is also a microSD slot for further storage of up to 32GB.

This is far more than you can expect from most smartphones on the market. In addition you get a further 7GB of free cloud storage online courtesy of Microsoft and you can extend this further if you are prepared to join a paid plan.

With so much going on most users will expect that the battery life will not be that great.  However, a day of moderate use is adequate for the battery and if you are a light user you can easily get two days out of it.

The camera offers 8 megapixels and the app is straightforward to use, even for those who have not used a smartphone camera before. There is a photo editor app which is useful and you can apply a variety of effects to the finished image. Alternatively you can use the camera to take video and you will find that this is good quality too.

Internet Use

There are a number of connectivity options on the phone including NFC so you can connect no matter where you are. The multimedia functions on the phone are good and there is an in-built speaker which offers good sound quality. The apps connected to music are easy to navigate and getting your media organised is easy.

Is this Your Dream Phone?

Samsung ATIV S Windows Phone 8 is set to make something of a splash in the smartphone market. It has everything that the serious smartphone user is looking for and adding Windows Phone 8 makes this a serious competitor to the high end Nokia phones. As 2013 is predicted to be a top year for Samsung, this handset will do much to help the company to achieve the lion’s share of the market.
