Many website and blog owners have started to integrate with Facebook to get additional exposure for their content. Whether you re-publish your blog directly on Facebook or use Facebook Connect to share comments using your Facebook login id, integration has become very easy.
To integrate your blog with Facebook, you can use content management tools such as WordPress, Drupal and Joomla or you can set up autoposting with Facebook. Autoposting has advantages over other methods of integration, like you don’t have to manually post your account on Facebook. The moment you save your blog post or update your blog, it will automatically be updated on your Facebook page for others to comment.
The following steps will help you setup your Facebook Autoposting.
1. On the main screen of your blog post website, you will come across an icon for autoposting.
2. On selecting the icon you gain access to two types of settings – Step-by-Step for new users and Standard settings for advanced users.
3. Before going any further, you would have to create a Facebook application from their developer’s website. On completion, you would be provided with an App-Id and App-secret codes. Copy them and proceed to the next button.
4. You will be asked to sign in with your Facebook id and you can select from the three autoposting settings provided there.
(i) Post as Facebook Page- You would be asked to submit your page id, and to post on multiple pages use commas to separate various page ids.
(ii) Automatically share- Whenever a new blog post is created, it would be posted automatically on your Facebook page.
(iii) Automatically share on update- Whenever a blog post is updated, it will be shared on your Facebook page.
5. This final step is optional and you can choose to finish your autoposting setup, or you can modify it to manage your site’s performance.
a. You can manage the sections of your blog to be shared on your Facebook page.
b. You can also manage the number of words in your article to be shared on the page.
Apart from the above mentioned steps you can also use plugins to integrate your blogs with Facebook. Facebook recently launched its WordPress plugin to auto publish blog posts on the Facebook page. The following steps will help you configure your plugin with your WordPress blog.
1. From the following website you can download the WordPress plugin as a zip file. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/facebook/
2. On your WordPress blog admin panel, you would come across various setting options. Click on the Plugin option and select Add New and then Upload. You can also upload the plugin file to the downloaded zip file in the following location: /wp-content/plugins/
3. Upload and activate the zip file. You would be asked to setup the Facebook application. On Facebook’s developer page, complete the application form to generate an App-id and App- secret.
4. Copy these settings and paste them in the WordPress plugin settings page. On successfully saving the settings, you will be able to autopost your content on the Facebook page.
This plugin is equipped with other utilities like Activity Feed, Like and Recommendation bar. As mentioned earlier, there are many ways to integrate your blogs with Facebook, but nothing amazes me like autoposting.
