Benefits of Notepads for WebmastersIf you're like most webmasters and bloggers, and if you have anything in common with me, then there's a good chance that you probably spend a great deal of time and money looking into the latest new gadgets as they come out.

Chances are you're something of a techy and this means you're likely to be on the ball when it comes to new releases, and likely to get a lot of use from things like tablets and netbooks.
However while you probably can benefit from getting the latest tablets, you should then overlook some of the older and more old fashioned productivity tools – such as the humble notepad and pen which still has a lot of functionality and can do wonders for your job.

In many ways, for just a couple of dollars, this handy little tool can help increase your productivity beyond that of even the most advanced tablet. Here we'll look at how...

Taking Down Ideas

The first argument for carrying a notepad and pen is so that you can take down ideas when they come to you. If you write a lot of blog posts in a week the chances are that over time you might find yourself starting to find it more difficult to come up with new ideas.

By carrying a notepad and pen then, you can easily jot down things as they come to you during conversations, while watching the box, or when standing in a queue at the bank and you'll find you then find it much easier to start typing and letting the content flow when you do sit down to work.

Doodling

When you then sit down to work you need to be able to focus on what you're doing and not get distracted so that you stop work. However getting distracted in some capacity isn't all bad. You see the problem is that most people can't stay completely focussed without any kind of distraction, which is why they need some small thing to hold their attention every now and then – lest they turn to something more serious like Facebook.

Having a notepad on your desk that you can doodle in is a great way to accomplish this because it will mean you can draw something for a while and then turn your attention immediately back to work.

Notes

At the same time you can also use your notepad as almost an 'extra screen' where you can take notes during your writing. This might mean writing down a point you want to make later in the article you're writing, or it might mean writing down a number you need to remember. Either way it allows you to keep your Word document maximized so that your attention isn't too divided and you don't forget anything.

To Do Lists

To do lists are highly useful ways to ensure that you don't forget any of your important tasks and can get them off of your mind. By creating a to do list you can then work logically through your tasks, and at the same time you'll be able to plan your day ahead so that you can fit everything in. As soon as you get it down on paper, a day of chores can seem a lot more manageable.
