Android Jelly Bean - Ice Cream Sandwich with Bells and Whistles

Android Jelly Bean is a new release from Google. Although the Ice Cream Sandwich is still in its infancy, Google have released it as an updated version, the 4.1 rather than its own 5.0 and it has some great features including the upgraded Android Beam function, it has enhanced voice recognition software and it has the Google Now digital assistant.

Overview

Although the Android Jelly Bean has a similar loo to the Ice Cream Sandwich there are some changes which makes this OS pretty great. When you first use it you will notice a marked increase in speed with a completely lag free service.

Google’s Project Butter ensures that everything runs with ease, screens are refreshed and there is extra power to the CPU making using the touch screen, basically as smooth as butter.it has now perhaps the fastest speed and response of any handset on the market.

The lock screen function has been improved greatly; you can change your widget size and quickly and simply customise the features to suit you, which is a well-known trait of the Android OS.

Google Now

Google Now is like a having a personal assistant in the palm of your hand. Need to know the weather forecast? it can be done. Need to translate foreign languages into your own? It’s a breeze all thanks to this great software.

It follows your search habits, it knows your usual commute and it basically learns so much about you it can offer you a completely personal service, such as traffic information to help you get to work easier. It all sounds rather ‘Big Brother’ but it is really helpful to have the information it can provide on hand. You will wonder how you ever lived without it.

Jelly Bean also offers a new and improved navigation service. The old version was perfectly fine and in fact was perhaps the best on the market, but now the pull bars work alongside the Google Now feature to make the use seamless.

Automatic Personalisation

What really makes the Jelly Bean version of Android stand out from the crowd is the fact that it can personalise itself to its user. Its capabilities are endless. It is faster than those that came before it and is a lot more user friendly than some other brands operating systems that are sluggish, and lag to a large extent. The Jelly Bean appears to be consistent in its reliability which can only be good news for the user.

The Best Mobile OS?

As a mobile operating system it is perhaps the only complete package on the market currently. However, developments are being made constantly throughout all of the handset manufacturers and the mobile phone market is ever changing and improving.

Millions of pounds per year is spent in the research and development of both the hardware and software for mobile phones to try to ensure that the new models are the best they can be. It may not be long before the Jelly Bean has a close competitor or even its own upgraded version to enjoy
