Lately there have been some newer social media platforms that have been working their way up around the internet, gaining the interest of many and gaining it fast.

Facebook and Twitter may still be a couple of the better ways to get your businesses name out there, but they are no longer the only ones.
Below are some up and coming sites you may want to know about for future reference:

1. Pinterest

Launched in 2010, Pinterest quickly become one of the top most viewed sites on the internet.
Now although Pinterest may not be a suitable platform for all businesses types if a business can somehow find a way to link pictures to themselves and pin it up, then Pinterest is a great site to use in order to get your name out there.

2. Crowdtilt

Crowdtilt is a fun and simple way to collect funds with friends.
After giving a brief description, a photo and the amount needed to tilt - you can be on your way to making connections in order to start building funds. If the campaign tilts then the cards get charged and the funds come to you via a direct deposit - quick and easy.

3. Highlight

“a fun, simple way to learn more about the people around you”
Highlight allows for people to get to know each other through a quick and simple fashion without even having to say “Hello”.

The way it works is straightforward - if a person standing next to you has the application their profile will pop up on your mobile allowing you to see their name, photos of them and any mutual friends you may share. This may come in handy during interviews and of course first dates.

4. Square

Quick to become the talk of the town, Square is an electrical payment service that allows for a quick and easy way to have your credit cards be accepted through your mobile phone.
One can either swipe their card through the Square device or type the details in manually.
Having already made friends with Starbucks – this application is well on its way.

5. Vir2o

Now this platform is only in its Beta stage at the moment but even so, it shows promise in possibly becoming one of the bigger social media platforms toward the end of 2013, beginning of 2014.
After registering, Vir2o allows the beta testers to upload and share music, play games with friends, shop at the marketplace and of course engage and interact with the internet.

Vir2o is one of the first sites to make all these features available in real time on one robust social networking. Vir2o plans to deliver a fully interactive social media experience to users across the globe. There you have it, some new easy to use platforms to check out and watch out for in 2013.
