With Google+ quickly becoming a very popular social networking site, you have to wonder if it will rise above all the others to hold the number one spot and become the best social media site around.

While you can’t predict exactly what will happen in the future, you can use current trends to get a good idea of what the future holds. Social media networks give you the freedom to meet, talk to and socialize with others all over the globe.

It’s a great way to meet new friends and stay in touch with old ones. They all have special features that allow you to tag images, upload videos and slideshows and so much more. These are the things that keep users engaged and coming back for more.

Social media sites are so popular that even businesses are getting in on the action and using these sites as a way to create brand awareness and strengthen their online presence. It’s clear that these networks are here to stay. They’re a huge part of our future! But what’s unclear is who will come out on top.

Which site is the best and is there a “best” or are they all unique in their own way?

A Little about Google+

Google+ is a part of Google and anyone using Gmail or YouTube will also have a Google+ account. Of course, that doesn’t mean that you have to use it, it simply means that you already have an account whether you signed up for one or not.

It also means that the number of users reported by this networking site could be inflated some, since many of these users may not know or acknowledge that they have a Google+ account. They do offer many of the same benefits as other social networking sites and some that are exclusive to Google+ only.

However, other social media sites like Facebook have features that are exclusive to Facebook users only. Many of Google’s features in G+ seem to be to combat Facebook like the communities and the brand pages. For those who are tired of FB, it’s a great alternative but for some, it’s too much trouble to learn a new platform.

What Hurts Google+ the Most

One of the biggest things that hurts Google+ the most is that it got a late start. There are many other sites available that have already established themselves as a trustworthy network. These have faithful users that would never switch to something new.

Facebook and Twitter are at the top of the list with Facebook being recognized as the most popular social networking site at present time. Even so, that doesn’t mean that Google+ does not have a chance to rise above other social networks to take that number one position. Each network has different benefits and can be used in different ways. Many social media fans and savvy marketers are using all of them for maximum benefit.

Another obstacle that creates problems for Google+ is that many users don’t like to learn new platforms. Therefore, they just stay with the one they’re already using for sake of convenience, even if they don’t like everything about it. People are creatures of habit and many of them don’t like change.

What Helps Google+ the Most

Many do believe that Google+ will grow and become a powerful social networking site, partly due to the fact that it’s an excellent place for companies to market their business. For example, Google+ is a part of Google, so this search engine considers the content used on this social media site to be safe and trustworthy.

As a result, using this networking site has a huge effect on search engine optimization, which affects where the Google search engine ranks your content. High rankings help businesses to increase brand awareness and eventually draw in more consumers. Every business wants to rank as high as they can with the search engines, so it just makes sense to merge with Google in as many ways as possible.

Another thing that Google+ has going for it is new users. Even though there are millions of social media fans out there already, there are still many more waiting to choose a network for the first time and they definitely have what it takes to attract these newcomers.

Google+ has a lot to compete with when it comes to Facebook and other popular networks but it certainly has the potential to become big. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens. What’s your opinion about Google+? Do you believe it will rise above Facebook and other social networks to become the best or do you think they will always be left behind since other networks have such a huge head start?
