Three Ways To Establish A Name In Your Field Through Creativity

There are several reasons you may want to make a name for yourself within your particular field.  Establishing a quality product, or breaking through with an innovative concept, has several benefits.

The most obvious one is financial gain.  Beyond that though, you can gain more creative control in your industry, network with professionals you admire, or receive offers to work for different companies.  Here are a few ways to establish your reputation with innovation:

Create an App
In the modern era of technological convenience, nothing catches on quicker than apps developed for smart phones.  These tiny programs provide entertainment, convenience, or information all at our fingertips.  Pricing varies between a one-time download fee or a subscription rate, but either way it is a small enough expense that people don’t usually wait long to make the purchase.

One app, Runpee, caught on like crazy, filling a specific niche: letting movie goers know when to run to the bathroom when they are at a theater.  Get creative and figure out a need that isn’t being satisfied, or that could be even more convenient, and break through in the tech community.

Create a Product
If technology isn’t your forte, but you are creative, try breaking through with an invention.  Sometimes small modifications to current products are all it takes to establish a highly marketable invention.  The George Foreman grill, for example, had made millions of dollars.  Look for problems in your day to day life, and brainstorm over possible solutions.

Find items on your list that you may have possible solutions for, and start there.  If you aren’t great with your hands, find a partner that is, and you can begin to develop a new product.  From there, you can consult with businesses specifically set up to help you develop the product so that it can go to market.

Create a Work of Art
Art is an ever-changing field.  Trends rise and fall in unpredictable patterns.  The best way to establish a name for yourself is to ignore what might be popular at the time, and create something that is uniquely yours.  Whether it is a painting, a book, or a film – sincerity speaks volumes when you present it to the public.

If you present something you are passionate about, it may just catch on and become the next big trend.  Look at Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead.  His work on the book launched him to celebrity status in the geek community, reviving zombie fiction.
