These days there is an app for nearly everything. Speeding up communication, access to information, answers to questions, and opening your garage door are all represented in mobile web applications.

Opening, closing, and monitoring your garage door can now be done conveniently from your mobile device. Many of these apps allow you to manage your garage door using only local WiFi network or your home network.

Apps for the Android, Blackberry, and all Apple devices are continuing to grow in popularity and are becoming more and more diverse. Many of these apps even feature web applications that allow you to remotely access the controls through a web browser to see the status of your door or open and close it.

How do the Apps Work?

Typically, the garage door apps work in conjunction with a typical garage door opener through radio transmission connected to a router by way of Ethernet. This allows the device to exchange a signal with the garage door opener. This is essentially the same concept as a wireless remote controlled opener that transmits the frequency via receiver.

The difference is really such that the app communicates with your home router. Many of these apps also give you the benefit of being able to work from anywhere there is an internet connection. This means that you don’t have to be in close range to control your door.
