Why 2013 Is An Even Bigger Year For Android

Almost all technology these days is centered on the developing mobile market and 2013 looks set to be another big year for Android, Google’s operating system. In the last quarter of 2012, 3 out of 4 smart phones had Android installed as their primary OS and it was the most used system across the globe.

Although Android tablet statistics were slightly lower, the OS was making headway in driving business away from the iPad and Apple iOS and over to the more open source platform.

Android has always had the advantage when it comes to mobile gaming as it is far more compatible with Flash and other programs commonly used online. Initially developers had to meet the high demand for multimedia games compatible with Android and released optimized games for mobile with rapid effect.

Android casino sites cater to a mobile market that enjoys the world’s most popular form of online gaming on the go, and this has given the OS the edge over many other devices that struggle to run these fast paced games.

Already in 2013 there has been a huge step forward for Android, with the Google Play Store (previously the Android Market) app revenue up by 90% in the first quarter. This is a huge leap for a store that offers an overwhelming amount of free downloads, as well as pay options.

The top countries by revenue were Japan, South Korea and United States. Interestingly, around 90% of the apps downloaded from the Play Store are also available in the Apple Store, showing just how far Android has encroached on the mobile market.

In addition to some major progress for Android in the apps and gaming department, there have been other updates that have improved the functionality and performance of Android powered devices. Google Chrome has released its Beta version of Chrome 27 and an Outlook update that has long been desired is now available.

Updates and patches are readily available for all Android OS versions and the ever growing interest in the OS assists in encouraging ongoing developments and improvements.

2013 looks set to be Androids biggest year yet and statistically it seems the OS is already on track to surpass all previous year’s figures. There are now over 400 million Android users worldwide and this figure grows by the minute.
