iPads and Hardcore Gamers

There is plenty of debate within the gaming community as to whether or not iPad games are worth the attention of hardcore gamers. Let’s face it; when you think of an iPad game, you usually think of Angry Birds or Words With Friends.

These are the kinds of games that might keep your parents or younger siblings entertained, but if you're a PS3 or Xbox fan, you probably have bigger fish to fry.

If shooting zombies is one of your favourite pastimes, look no further that Dead Trigger. The premise is simple: stay alive and kill as many zombies as possible. You’ll face horde after horde of the undead in a host of missions totalling over 40 hours of game play.

Mass Effect: Infiltrator - £3.25

Mass Effect: Infiltrator undeniably belongs among the ranks of its console counterparts. This latest addition to the Mass Effect series was optimised for the iPad and features high-resolution graphics that you have to see to believe. Once you’re in your first firefight, you’ll be hooked.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombies - £5.00

If you’ve already beaten Dead Trigger and are looking for more zombies to kill, you’re in luck. Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombies offers you 50 levels of zombie mayhem in the vein of the popular Call of Duty series. Into Mobile hailed this game as ‘...the best we’ve seen yet on the Apple Tablet’.

Grand Theft Auto III - £3.25

You don't get much more hardcore than Grand Theft Auto III. This video game classic made its debut on the PS2 a little over ten years ago, and it's now available on the iPad. You can once again cruise through Liberty City, steal cars, take out gangsters, cause general mayhem, only now you can do so while on the go!

Dead Space - £6.50

Dead Space won the 2011 Meffy Award for ‘Best Mobile Game of the Year’ and once you’ve played it, you’ll understand why. This gruesome sci-fi horror show makes the movie ‘Alien’ look like a Disney theme park. Try playing this game with the lights out. We dare you!

Infinity Blade II - £1.95

Infinity Blade II is, hands down, one of the best games that mobile gaming platforms have to offer. The graphics will make you feel like you’re playing it on the PC, to say nothing of the sound quality. Hailed by IGN as the ‘Mobile Game of the Year’ of 2011, Infinity Blade II is filled with nonstop action; giant warriors will come at you faster than you can chop their heads off.
