No one is under any misconceptions that Google won't continue to change the playing field as it pertains to search algorithms, but few people have direct insight into what SEO will look like when the calendar page turns to January 1.

Regarding SEO Predictions in 2014 some experts have chimed in with their opinions, however, and we have a few suggestions that you might want to take into account to help your website remain successful in 2014.

 SEO Up Until Now

Not so very long ago, link building was all that you had to do to help your SEO. If you had many incoming links, your website ranked highly for keywords that were used in the anchor text. It was a no-brainer. Now, backlinks are less important, and some websites have even suffered by focusing too heavily on a single keyword.

As Google has made efforts to weed out unnatural and spammy content on the search engine, we're seeing a shift. Even websites that are ranking highly for targeted keywords aren't reaping the benefits of that position. In the months and years ahead of us, SERP rank will likely continue to be less significant than other factors.

People like Jon Cooper from Point Blank SEO also counts on the trend of extra information and markup in search results continuing. Do you remember when results were simply blue links? Now, you can see links to author profiles or view sitelinks for domains.

As Google develops the way that results appears, you can expect to see more pertinent information directly on the SERPs, which is one less click that searchers will have to make, and that could mean one less click to your website.

However, if you format information in the way that Google deems helpful, you could actually encourage users to click through to your site thanks to the helpful information that already appears on Google.

 What Else to Expect

If you haven't already figured out how you can connect with mobile users, it's time to give it some thought. Of course, a mobile-friendly website is important, but what about the email newsletters you're sending out?

How many people read those on their smartphones? Many people open new messages as soon as those messages land in their inbox, and you can use this to your advantage. Plus, emails provide another way for you to link back to your website. Think of your newsletter as just one more location to use SEO practices.

Another thing to keep in mind if Google+, Google's own social network. The company has been hard at work promoting the site by providing search results from information directly shared on Google+. Don't expect that to end any time soon. Of course, Twitter and Facebook will still be going strong, so your business had better be social.

With a relaunch of Google Maps, the tech giant also hopes to modify the way that searchers think. In the past, you would search for specific places, people or things, but Google wants to help people explore based on their desires and moods.

This is especially important if you have a physical presence because it will allow you to optimize your website by inviting users to discover something new, and that something new might be your company. Ultimately, what's good for the visitor is good for SEO.

Born and raised in New York, Sebastian Webb grew up to a writer, blogger and SEO consultant, currently working for Proctor Subaru as content contributor. If you like Subaru, he recommends visiting their website, as they have good reviews for all recent models, for example the review for the new 2013 hybrid model, Crosstrek.

Among other things he enjoys photography and helping other in any way he can. That is the main reason for this article, so people can educate themselves in SEO field.
