Content quality is important for a blog, but if the visitors can’t read it well and are not pleased with the experience, then the content becomes dull regardless of what's in it.

Unfortunately, most blog writers forget the importance of proper blog formatting. It’s one of the most critical aspects that a blogger should not forget. This determines the professionalism and adds to the overall quality of the blog itself.

The good news is that it’s very easy to apply the proper formatting to your blog posts, since most of them, you will have determined already by frequenting the most visited blog sites on the web.

Break It Down: The Importance of Multiple Paragraphs

Putting your blog content into one tall wall of text will make it much harder for the readers, especially when they’re trying to catch up on what part of the blog are they reading. There are no set number of sentences needed for deciding on when to end the paragraph or not, but as a general rule, the minimum length of the paragraph should be around two to three sentences per paragraph.

This is considering that the bulk of our reading is now done on the tiny screens of our smart phones. Just make it so that as soon as the paragraph you finished explains one complete thought, then move on into creating another paragraph.

For breaking paragraphs, the tag can be used for this purpose.

Adding Headers & Sub-Headers: Importance of Tags

The use of headers is very important for grabbing the reader’s attention. They place emphasis on the header text being the first string of words that will introduce the entire blog posts and each paragraph.
A blog post can contain several ideas. Consequently, it’s not uncommon for one post to be broken down into several sub-topics, and an introduction certainly helps the transition between each shift.

This is where sub-headers come into play. It represents a “title within a title”, also trying to hold on to the reader’s interest. These subtitles should not stray to the general idea of the entire article that has been previously been introduced by the main title. For sub-headers,

and

tags will work fine.

The header tags not only contribute to the proper formatting of a blog post, search engines also prioritizes the texts sandwiched between the headers tags for indexing. Hence, they also affect SEO.

Adding keywords to the titles in your blog can also act as a form of a lesser “search engine optimization” strategy. Placing an important keyword such as "what is Pure Leverage" tells a search engine that it is more important that the rest of the text.

Proper Placement of Images

A picture is worth a thousand words. In addition, in blogging, it holds true as well.
Proper placement of images is another factor that may endear your blog to its visitors. If you sense that the image is going to invoke the general idea of your content as a whole, then place it right after the introductory paragraph.

Preferable places to post the images are either after the sub-header, or right after the entire paragraph, before it falls apart. That way, viewers will realize that the picture being shown is related to the sub-topic being discussed.

Other Formatting Guidelines

Using bullets is preferable if you need to explain small thoughts to the reader, but are not big enough to sustain their own sub-theme. In addition, to explain systematic procedures, numberings should be applied. It’ll get the message you are trying to convey much more readable, and more neat to the eyes.

Lastly, if you want to stress important keywords, like a place, name, or an event, put the text in bold. This is to emphasize the gravity of the news. Headers have no problem with this, since any header text is automatically formatted in bold. For statements, quotes, and other similar text, formatting it in italic are a better option to describe the statement or quote from the rest of the text.
