For diehard gamers, what could make a high-powered computer an even better gaming device? Mobility. Enter gaming laptops. With high-speed processing, powerful graphics cards and brilliant displays, on-the-go gaming enthusiasts can play their favorite games anywhere.

Among a sea of available fast laptops equipped with processors and tons of RAM, finding the laptop that's right for your gaming needs can enhance your gaming experiences exponentially. Below is a featured selection of our favorite gaming laptops, and why we love them.

Budget Gamer: Lenovo Ideapad Y510p

Not everyone can afford to spend thousands of dollars on a rig that plays the most cutting-edge games. For the gamer with a dozen games from Steam and a copy of "Skyrim," you don't need the top-tier rig. Lenovo's Ideapad is the perfect budget gaming laptop. With an Intel Core i7 processor and dual Nvidia graphic processors, the Ideapad stands up against its competitors.

Although the Lenovo runs many simple games problem-free, it can be burdened by top-of-line games with powerful graphical needs. According to speed tests by Laptop Mag, the Ideapad ran "Bioshock Infinite," and the graphics maxed-out at an average of 67 frames per second.

By notebook standards, this is in line with the Ideapad's competitors. If you play less graphically intense games, such as "World of Warcraft," the Ideapad is the performance machine for you. With its bright 15.1-inch 1080p display and $1,299 price tag, the Lenovo is practically a steal.

Traveler: Razer Blade 14

Big things really do come in small packages, and the Razer Blade 14 is evidence. Packed with a 765M Nvidia GeForce GTX graphics processor, solid state drive and Intel Core i7 processor, it's amazing that the Razer Blade 14 is only a little over four pounds. Featured as the “world's thinnest gaming laptop,” the Razer Blade is super-slim and only .66 inches thick, about the diameter of a dime.

It's designed specifically, and without sacrifice, for gamers who have to travel often. With a beautiful aluminum chassis, back-lit keys and a fully customizable keyboard, it's hard to believe this much gaming glory can fit in such a thin package.

Engadget reports that in speed tests, the Razer Blade 14 ran "Skyrim" at rates bouncing between 45 and 100 frames per second, depending on whether the player was inside or outside in-game. Clocking in at a starting price of $1,799, the Razer Blade 14 is the stealth bomber of gaming. It's capable of going anywhere and delivers the necessary firepower when you need it.

Beast: Alienware 18

Alienware is the undisputed king of boutique gaming laptops, and the brand's new offering is no exception to their rule of quality and power. The Alienware 18 is behemoth — pushing the scales at 12.2 pounds. It's easy to get over the weight once you check its specs. The 18 features two Nvidia GPUs, a 512GB solid state drive and 32 GB of RAM, massive vents on the bottom, and an 18.4-inch 1080p display.

This titan of laptop gaming is a powerhouse. In PC Mag performance tests, it clocked a super-smooth 89 FPS while playing "Aliens vs. Predator." The Alienware 18 is a hedonistic display of backlit keys and neon lights — the gaming equivalent of a tricked-out super-car.

And such opulence isn't without a hefty price tag. The configuration mentioned above carries a staggering $4,499 price tag and starts as “inexpensively” as $2,099. If you absolutely must have the bleeding edge, state-of-the-art gaming experience, Alienware 18 is a worthwhile splurge.
