Search engine optimization has been around for a while, and most websites have already implemented an SEO strategy in order to attract more users to their site and generate business.

What most website owners don’t know is that search engine optimization is not a one and done type of strategy. You cannot simply implement an SEO strategy one time and expect it to continue working magic for your site.

Take keywords for example. Years ago, SEO experts everywhere told you just how important is was to add keywords to your website copy. These keywords, which were typically one to four words in length, would be the magnet the attracted the search engine crawlers and allowed them to rank your site appropriately.

Today, while keywords are still important, the type of keyword has changed. Today, search engines are no longer looking for one or two words—they’re looking for long tail keywords. Long tail keywords are longer in length, more like sentences, and are more specific and conversational in tone. If you truly want to reap the benefits of long tail keywords, you need to add long tail keywords to your content in the following ways.

Use the right research tools.

Before you can add long tail keywords to your website, you must first know what long tail keywords to use. This is when it’s important to use the right research tools. Tools such as Google Suggest or YouTube’s Keyword Tool are great assets to help you see what type of content is being searched, what’s trending, and what keywords are the most popular.

If you are currently using any type of analyzing tool, be sure to pay close attention to the keywords used to access your site.

Add a blog to your website.

Most people don’t want to take the time to completely rewrite their website copy, and you don’t have to. Instead, adding a blog to your website is a great way to add long tail keywords to your website without having to change out all your copy.

Be sure that the blog posts you write contain long tail keywords that are relevant to the topic (and your website). Plus, since you can update your blog posts regularly, you can easily tap into a variety of different long tail keywords in order to expand your reach.

Add frequently asked questions to your website.

When an individual performs a search query on a search engine, they are typically writing out full questions instead of short phrases. If you want to add long tail keywords to your content in an easy way, you should consider adding a frequently asked questions section to your website.

Think of all the questions that your customers ask or that potential customers would ask about your company, products and/or services. Then, write these questions out on your website along with detailed answers. These questions will serve as long tail keywords and help your website attract more traffic.

Transcribe multimedia files.

If you have audio or video files on your website, you need to have them transcribed and place the transcription on your website. Adding transcriptions of your multimedia files can generate increased long tail search traffic Chances are the content contains long tail keywords, which helps your overall SEO, but multimedia files are also usually recorded in conversational tone, which will also boost your overall SEO.

Make sure that you are placing the transcriptions directly on your website so that the search engines can crawl through the content and use what they find to better rank your site.
