The iPhone is one of the best-selling mobile phones of all time. They’re popular not only because of their style, but also because they’re fast, sleek and reliable devices. 
Making the decision to go with Apple’s iPhone is a pretty good one, you’re going to be getting a great phone. But before you sign your i Phone contract, you’re going to have a decision to make.
Most mobile service operators (and all the major ones) offer both the iPhone 5 and the older iPhone 4S model. You might be tempted just to go with the newer phone, but what exactly will you be getting for your money? The Advantages of the iPhone 5 Over the iPhone 4S…

There are advantages to the iPhone 5, and plenty of them. It’s the faster phone. It runs a 1300 MHz processor, rather than the slower 800 MHz processor on the 4S, making it snappier and more powerful. It also run double the RAM (1024 MB versus 512 MB), making it more responsive and better able to handle multi-tasking or running more than one process at a time.

The iPhone 5 gets much faster maximum data speeds. Theoretically, faster data speeds means quicker downloading and faster opening of web pages, however, most service operators cap data speeds long before they reach what either of these phones are capable of, so in the real world it’s not an issue. But with the rise of 4G networks, this could be important in the future.

The screen is larger, measuring in at a full four inches, versus the iPhone 4S’s three and a half inch screen. It’s also higher resolution by around twenty per cent, meaning it’s crisper and clearer than the screen on the 4S. Despite having the larger screen, the 5 still comes in around ten per cent smaller than the 4S, as well as being about twenty per cent thinner and lighter, so it is definitely more portable.

But What About the iPhone 4S?

Technically the iPhone 4S has no advantages over the iPhone 5. But, as impressive as the specs above about the 5 might look, there is something important to realize. The iPhone 5 is a better device, there’s no doubt, but the additional power and screen resolution that you get are not necessarily going to make a huge difference to the average user. The larger screen is nice, granted, but the speed and resolution? Probably not worth it.

Which One Should I Go For?

Truth be told, the iPhone 4S is such a good deal right now that it seems a shame not to sign a contract for it. You get a phone that’s less powerful, but you also save a lot of money. The iPhone 5 is nice, but it’s expensive, even on a contract plan. Do yourself a favor, and pick the iPhone 4S, it’s just a better deal.
