Make Your BalckBerry 10 Device Run Android Applications

BlackBerry (BB) is one of the oldest phones in the category of SmartPhones. In its latest versions like BlackBerry 10 headsets it has launched new app stores, known as BlackBerry World.

Though this application store has 70,000 applications, but it still is far less than IOS or Android applications, which are 700,000. However, you can launch some Android applications to your BlackBerry 10 device as well, but you cannot simply install Android applications to your BB 10 by using the APK file (APK file is a file needed for installing an application on Android phone).

Instead, you have to have .BAR file to accomplish this task.

Install Android app on your BlackBerry 10

• Step 1: The first step is to install an appropriate version of java JRE.

• Step 2: Download and install DDPB. DDPB is a third-party installer application that is used to install converted Android applications on your BlackBerry. This application allows you to install the .BAR files and hence give you easy environment to install Android apps.

• Step 3: Follow the below mentioned steps after installing DDPB in your Windows based system:
1. Go to ‘Settings’ on your BB 10 by scrolling down from the top Home screen.

2. Go to ‘Security and Privacy’ and select ‘Development Mode’.

3. Go to ‘Use Development Mode’. If you have not protected your phone with password, then too need not to worry when asked for it. Simply provide anything when prompted for password, for example give your name or anything else.

4. Go back to ‘Settings >> About’ and select ‘Network’ category from slide-down menu.

5. Note down the ‘IPv4’ number for example 192.168.1.101

6. After this run the DDPB installer on your PC (that you have downloaded) and provide the ‘IPv4’ number on the space for ‘PlayBook IP Address’ along with the password of the device that you entered in your BB 10 phone.

7. Click ‘Connect’ and your phone will be connected to the DDPC installer. However, if you encounter any error in between this process, then recheck the entered IP address.

8. Click ‘Add’ and choose the converted Android files that are downloaded. Check out the applications, select the required ones by check marking them, and then finally click ‘Install’.

9. A new window that shows the processes pops up and once this process is completed, you are done with the installation of your Android apps on BB 10.

10. Go back to ‘Security and Privacy’, then select ‘Development Mode’ and turn off the development mode. Remove the password, if you do not want any through ‘Security and Privacy >> Device Password’.

Following these steps installs Android apps on your BlackBerry. Though DDPB notifies you that your applications have successfully been installed; however, you need to check whether the applications are actually displaying or not.

By far you may understand that you cannot install Android.apk files directly to your BB; therefore, for this you need to convert .APK files to a .BAR file with the help of free online conversion utilities.

Moreover, you have to be very careful while performing these steps and installing Android apps to your computer as wrong steps could be a reason of logical error, it could corrupt your phone memory and you could lose your data. To recoverdata from your phone you would need some good data recovery software.
