The process is very simple and once you know how to create Connect to Internet desktop shortcut in Windows 7 you will easily be able to create it in Windows 8. The process is same in both versions of Windows. So let's start creating desktop shortcut.
Create a Desktop Shortcut For Broadband Connection.
I am using keywords broadband connection here because I use broadband, but you can name it anything.• Go to Control Panel. To go to Control Panel in Windows 8 right click in the left bottom corner from where you go to Start Screen and there you will see the Control Panel option.
• In Control Panel go to View network status and tasks under Network and Internet option.

• Now click Change adapter settings in the left pane and a new window will pop-up and there you will see the icons of Broadband Connection and Local Area Connection.

• Right click on the icon and create a shortcut. You can also copy and paste the shortcut on the desktop. It is same for Windows 7 and Windows 8.
