Most of us work with the computers, it has come to an extent where the first object we see getting up in the morning is our computer and the last thing we see before sleeping is our sacred monitor. Often we eat sitting in front our computer and inevitably we spill food on the keyboard.
We try removing the food using various tools including a pins and scales depending on the size of the food like a small piece of pepperoni or cookie crumbs. However, what do we do when we spill ketchup or beer? We try wiping it off, but the food remains and gets dry over a period of time and our keyboard starts looking like a rotten table! Logitech has come up with a new ‘washable keyboard’. The keyboard can be washed with soap and water for a more thorough cleaning.
The keyboard can be connected using a USB and comes with guide that guides you through the setting-up process. The keyboard is compatible with MacBook Pro as well, but you cannot use a few keys like the hot keys and Windows Start button which are not required for the Apple product.
Logitech’s color theme is white buttons on a grey backdrop with enough spacing between keys which helps in removing small food debris easily. It is bundled with a cleaning brush that helps in removing any dirt that is hard to reach.
You get a cap with for the USB port which you can use for protection while washing your keyboard. However, trying to take the shortcut and just dumping your keyboard into the dish washer is going to flush your 40-dollar-keyboard right down the drain! It is better if you use dish soap than any disinfectants containing alcohol.
You can clean anything from orange juice to any cream that has fallen on your keyboard. There are drainage holes on the bottom and sides which helps drain water sooner. With a gentle scrubbing, you can remove all the dirt and your keyboard comes out clean, you can air-dry it overnight and it is good to go the next day.
The keys in total are 103, including a dedicated number panel and different buttons for keyboard functionalities. You can tilt the keyboard to about eight degrees to make it more angular for typing. The keys are protected from UV rays and laser-etched so you can wash your keyboard as many times as you want without any trouble.
The only downside with this keyboard is that it may not withstand harsh washes. Otherwise it is a great keyboard to own especially for those who are prone to spilling food on keyboards often. If you are looking for looks and functionality, this keyboard makes a decent choice.
