Samsung has officially unleashed its new Samsung Galaxy S4, which boasts a selection of camera shooting options that the manufacturer is hoping will help make the device more appealing.
Alongside the device’s 13 megapixel camera, there are the Dual Camera, Sound & Shot, and Drama Shot modes, and also the Story Album feature. So, just what are these features all about, and are they impressive enough to help make the Galaxy S4 the best selling smartphone of 2013? Let’s find out…
Dual Camera means you can take a picture of your family and yourself at the same time using both of the device’s cameras and then blend them into one image. It’s also handy for video calling too as you can have a big group of people in front of the rear camera, whilst you chat comfortably at the same time using the front-facing snapper.
However, in some situations such as capturing a baby’s first steps, it’s likely that you would want to take a video to have moving images and sound instead of a static picture. There’s also the issue that you can’t extract the audio and image together from the phone, so to show people a Sound & Shot image you can only use your Galaxy S4.
These albums can also be printed off and delivered to users as photo books so they can keep a tangible record of the day. Looking at this camera functionality it’s clear to see that Samsung has put a lot of effort into trying to be innovative.
Although the Sound & Shot feature doesn’t have a massive wow factor, Dual Camera could definitely come in handy in certain situations such as video calling, and Drama Shot is pretty cool for capturing things in motion.
It remains to be seen if the new camera features of the Galaxy S4 will get a good reception and promote handset sales, but with Samsung’s massive appeal we think the device is likely to be a massive hit regardless.

Dual Camera
One of the new camera features of the Galaxy S4 is Dual Camera, which allows users to utilise both front and rear cameras simultaneously. For example you could be taking a holiday snap of your family on a deserted beach and there’s no else to press the shutter button for you.Dual Camera means you can take a picture of your family and yourself at the same time using both of the device’s cameras and then blend them into one image. Sound & Shot
Sound & Shot allows you to add an audio clip to an image, so when you look back through your pictures on your device you can relive the moment through the image and sound as well. This feature could be used when you’re taking a picture during a New Year’s Eve party countdown to midnight.Image Licensed Under Attribution |

Drama Shot
Those selecting a Galaxy S4 will also be able to utilise Drama Shot, which lets you take a series of photos of a moving subject and puts them together within one image. It creates a cool collage that shows every bit of the action created by the subject merged into one picture. This feature would come in especially handy at sports events, where you could capture some really interesting shots of athletes in motion.Story Album
Another new addition to the Galaxy S4 is the Story Album function that records photos, videos, memos, location and weather information from certain events and turns it into a photo album. So if you have a special event such as a birthday or wedding, Story Album can gather lots of information held on your smartphone from that day into one album. These albums can also be printed off and delivered to users as photo books so they can keep a tangible record of the day.
