If you were to read any SEO blog, you’re sure to run into posts that promise ways to improve on content. Although content was always important for overall marketing.

The Panda and Penguin updates really validated the fact that if you want to reach the first page in rankings, you’re going to need engaging content that gives users exactly what they’re looking for. In order to achieve this, we must pay respect to the customer and ask ourselves several questions when composing content on our webpages.

  • The first question would be Why?  Why am I writing this, and what do I hope to achieve with this content? The Why? question extends past this though. It also goes into Why You? What makes you different from your competitors? Why should your customers choose your services over someone else’s?
  • Who is my customer? Am I composing content that appeals to a conservative American male in the Midwest or is my customer base suburban housewives? Answering these questions will allow you to write content that caters to your customers. Your style, tone and diction will match what they’re comfortable with. Also, by knowing who your customers are, you’ll be able to answer the next question.
  • How did my customer get here in the first place? This addresses the issue of the challenges that brought the customer here in the first place. They obviously searched your page for a reason; if you can figure out why, you can produce content that addresses their needs.
In addition, you must also think of community-building content when you consider online internet marketing services.  This means constructing a blog that is dedicated to providing quality content that your customers can actually use. It’s not just about promoting an item or service you offer. Visitors will not come back to your site if all they get is basically advertisement posts.

They’ll come back if you offer information that they can’t get anywhere else. This could include videos, images, infographics and white papers that present you as a thought leader. By being an authority on a particular subject, you will get loyal readers who can refer your blog to others.
