Like with most digital cameras the 255 HS’s control panel is mounted to the right hand side of the screen. Navigation through the various menus and functions is quick and easy which we now expect from Canon’s control systems. This is a well-designed camera which is also a nice size and weight to carry around.

The IXUS delivers good picture quality including in low light situations. Many compact cameras fall down when it comes to capturing good light and colour but this Canon model does it well. However when using any compact camera, including this one, your picture quality will almost always benefit from the addition of artificial light.

Video options and quality seem to be improving on compact digital cameras in recent times and this is the case with this camera too. It offers users a range of video options including High Definition video at 1920x1080, 24 fps and at 1280x720, 30 fps and Super Slow Motion Movie at 640x480, 120 fps or at 320x240, 240 fps.

An added feature on this camera is the wind filter setting which minimizes the sound disturbance from the wind. The video footage on the IXUS is good and offers sharp color and decent sound.

This camera has a built-in Wi-Fi setting which means that you can connect your 255 HS to wireless networks, printers, mobile devices or computers. You can also manage and transfer your pictures using Applications which are available on both Apple and Android devices. This camera does not offer built-in GPS but you can still geotag your photographs through these applications.
