From personal entertainment and on-the-go communication to education and business, the smaller touch screens of our mobile phones and tablets have already shown us the potential. But what does the future hold? The future may be smaller for portable devices, but larger for in-home or business use.
By larger, we mean the advent of touch screen tables. With a technology that is already currently available, in one form or another, for a wide variety of user-friendly devices, it is only a matter of time before its larger forms come into more common use.
How will large touch screen tables change things for the future? The possibilities are endless, with only the limits of imagination to hold us back. An excellent example can be found in education. Currently, many classrooms are being upgraded to new Whiteboard or SmartBoard technology. These new interactive boards allow teachers to form lesson plans on a computer, then wirelessly project the lessons to a SmartBoard for the whole class to see.

The ‘smart’ function of these boards is in the ability of the teacher to manipulate the material on the board without having to return to the host computer. It’s a significant step up from the chalk and blackboards that many people remember using in school, even just a few short years ago. |

The next evolution may allow teachers to divide students into small groups to work on projects with touch screen tables. These group tables would allow students to view and manipulate the lesson plans much like the teacher would for a larger class, but record more individualized ideas and solutions to problems posed by the lesson.
Similar functionality could be used in the corporate world with touch screen tables being used in boardrooms to easily view and report finances as well as ideas and future plans of a business; all with a greater reduction of paper and resources.
There would be less of a need for projectors as the information would come right to the tabletop. No more worries about having the proper access codes or the correct cable to connect technologies together. Touch screen tables would allow easier access to important information when it is needed most.
The future holds few boundaries as this technology could also come to your restaurant table top or your dining room table. No need to remember what the daily special is or even have a menu when it can be brought up with a few taps on the table you will be eating from.
How’s that for table side service?! For home entertainment, the technology is already becoming available as some providers offer larger screens with improved glass for new ways for families to watch movies, play games, and entertain with music.
When it comes to the large touch screen tables, the future is very bright. The next step on the ladder might be smaller for some mobile items, but larger for touch screen tables.
