Is Google Planning For its Own Wi-Fi Network in Fiber Cities?

It is confirmed that Google is expanding its Fiber service to other cities in the U.S., but can we see Google rolling-out its own Wi-Fi networks. The documents confirming the Fiber service expansion gives hints that Google is preparing to roll out its own Wi-Fi networks in the U.S.

According to IDG News Service "the documentation currently being sent out to cities in the running to receive Google Fiber next have revealed that Google has plans for WiFi in addition to the Gigabit internet and TV service."

The document did not gives much details of the Wi-Fi plan, but Google says it will be “discussing our Wi-Fi plans and related requirements with your city as we move forward with your city during this planning process.”

Google is restricting itself from giving any other info, but it did make it clear that it is interested in rolling out Wi-Fi networks as part of its Google Fiber efforts. Google said “We’d love to be able to bring Wi-Fi access to all of our Fiber cities, but we don’t have any specific plans to announce right now.”

Currently Google is running its Fiber service in Provo, Utah, and Kansas City, and is promised soon in Austin, Texas. Google offers three plans for its fast Fiber broadband service -It delivers a "basic speed" service for no charge, a gigabit-per-second service for US$70 per month and a $120 package that includes a bundle of more than 200 TV channels. Installation costs between nothing and $300.
