One of the biggest problems that Outlook users experience is inaccessibility of Outlook data which usually happens because of corrupt PST file. However, a PST file can get corrupted due to many reasons but some of the common reasons are virus infection, increase in size of file, corrupt Outlook etc. In order to get access to your Outlook data from corrupt PST file, you need to repair Outlook PST file.

Let us discuss a situation that I faced when I have an official Gmail ID i.e. configured on Outlook 2010. One day, when I opened MS Outlook to check my mails, then received an error message. The error message resembled to the following:

"Errors have been detected in the file." Where is the path or location where PST file is stored?
After receiving this error message, I was unable to perform any action on Outlook. Then I performed a search on the Internet to find a resolution to this problem. While searching, I found that this issue occurs due to corruption of Outlook database.

Outlook stores the entire user data including e-mail, tasks, calendar items and contacts, in a Personal Storage file also known as PST file. At times, this file can get corrupted due to many reasons and one of the common reasons for corruption of PST file is increase in size of PST.

In Outlook 2010, the size of Personal Storage file is 50 GB. But, you can face performance issues when your PST is nearby 10 to 15 GB. Actually, it is a sign of upcoming problem in Outlook premises.

Outlook PST Repair

If you receive many e-mails everyday then the size of PST file can exceed with exponential rate. Many MVPs are claimed that heavy Outlook data file can lead towards corruption before predefined limit. In my case, PST size was 12 GB.

After searching for a resolution on the Internet, I found that this issue can be resolved easily with the help of Inbox Repair Tool. Every version of Outlook is incorporated with Inbox Repair Tool called 'ScanPST.EXE'. This tool allows you to repair corrupt Outlook database files and recover the data. But in this case, I was unable to repair Outlook database using ScanPST.EXE due complex level of error.

Then I found a valuable suggestion from Outlook expert that it is a common situation and you can recover data from corrupt Outlook PST file using Outlook recovery software. He also suggested me some software that are available on the Internet with a free demo version.

I tried some of the software and then selected Stellar Phoenix Outlook PST Repair which allows you to easily repair corrupt Outlook PST files and recover all data including emails, attachments, calendar items, etc. Moreover, the tool previews the recoverable items before actually starting the recovery process. In a very easy way I have resolved my problem and now everything is working fine.
