When it comes to cyberspace opportunities, Google has always been on top of its game. Aside from providing internet users with a powerful search engine, it has also provided us with other internet-related products and services including social networking, cloud computing, and operating system, to name a few.

And even with these, they continue to innovate and improve the things that they offer, bearing in mind efficiency and convenience for the users.

Recently, Google has introduced a new way to use search engines. Dubbed as Google Handwrite, this feature allows you to search by just writing letters and words on your device’s screen. Available for touch-screen Android and iOS devices and tablets, will spare you from using your keyboard to make makes searching faster.

Typing on a mobile keyboard can be a hassle on certain circumstances. Clicking on the miniscule letter buttons can be a pain when we are traveling or when you are in a hurry. With this new search feature, you can completely do away with using your keyboard. Once you enable this, you can just write anywhere on your phone or tablet’s screen using a stylus or finger. Google amazingly captures what you have just written and then insert it on the search bar.

How Do I Use Google Handwrite Feature?

Enabling this feature in your phone or tablet is very easy, although setting it up will slightly vary from one device to another. First, head on to Google.com in your mobile device and tap on the settings button. If you are using an iPhone, it should be located at the bottom of the screen. If you are using an iPad, look for it at the upper-right corner. For other tablets, it is bound to be behind the small gear icon on the page.

Once you are transferred to the search settings page, scroll down to the bottom where you will find a new header for the handwrite setting. Simply tick on the enable box. Further scroll down the page and tap on the save button.

Go back to the Google page where you will now see a “g” script on the lower-right hand corner of the screen. When you tap this, this will expand into a menu bar on the screen of the device and contain a backspace key and a space bar. This will facilitate for easier and more accurate searches with your handwriting.

Try writing anything and anywhere on the screen and watch as Google turn your handwritten letters into actual text in the search box. It will even offer suggestions on similar words. If you do not want to search with your fingers, just tap on the “g” script button and you will go back to typing searches with the keyboard.

What are the requirements from Google?

According to Google, this handwrite feature supports 27 languages, working on Android 2.3 or later, Apple iOS 5.0 or later, and tablets that run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or later.
If you are using an iPhone, you might find that there is a different setting menu with the iOS app of Google. Therefore, you will need to use Google with a mobile browser like Chrome or Safari to use the handwrite feature.
